blogDesign Solutions For Your Kitchen

The kitchen is considered the central hub of the home, being the place where we cook, eat, socialise and entertain. Therefore, it is important to create an open and inviting space to welcome your friends and family. There are many factors to consider when designing your kitchens, such as the use of space and colour. Whatever the size of your home, we have some great design solutions to maximise the space you do have whilst creating a beautiful kitchen anyone would be envious of.

Corner Cabinets

Depending on the general shape and layout of your kitchen, it is likely that most of us have a corner cabinet. The corner cabinet is not efficient, as many items can easily get pushed to the back out of reach. However, every corner cabinet has great storage potential. There are many pull out accessories available to fit into your corner cabinet, eliminating the storage issue.

Lighten It Up

A lot of cabinetry in a kitchen can make the space feel dark and cramped. Lighten it up with a fresh lick of white paint, to create a timeless and modern appeal in your kitchen. Lighter colours in the kitchen can also create an easy setting for you to work splashes of colour into, giving your kitchen a bit more character.  A popular choice of colour in the kitchen is the black and white combo with neutral tones of olive or navy to add an element od colour, whilst still looking modern and coordinated.

Overhead Storage

Storage is a common issue in most households, so why not make use of every space in your kitchen? If you don’t already have so, it may be worth investing in overhead storage. You can coordinate the cabinets to the ones already in your kitchen, sticking with the same colours and style. If you are looking to spruce up your kitchen, you can go for a two-toned approach. If you have dark lower cabinets, choosing white ones to go overhead can create a nicer contrast and open your space at the same time. It is wise to keep your non-essentials in these cabinets, as if you have high ceilings, they can be tricky to access. We advise keeping a small stepladder nearby so that you can reach the cabinets as and when you need to.

Organisers

To make the most of the space in your kitchen, organisers are the solution. You can purchase drawer organisers online, or even at your local supermarket if you’re lucky. Organisers can easily slide into your drawer, making it easy to find what you need and grab it. Look for one to store all your herbs and spices. Having a visible spice shelf in your kitchen can often make your space look messy and cluttered, so hide them away in an organiser!

Appliance cabinets

Appliances such as the kettle, toaster and coffee machine are commonly used in the kitchen, yet it can be a struggle to find a permanent home for them to suit on your worktop. If you don’t want to have them on show in your kitchen, an appliance cabinet is a solution for you. This will sit directly on top of your worktop so that you can easily access the appliances, whilst making your kitchen appear clean and uncluttered.
